Environmental Rooms

High Quality
Manufacturing Rooms

Specifications

PURPOSE: To control temperature and humidity of the room and to isolate the manufacturing process from outside dirt contamination, thus insuring the best possible manufacturing results. These rooms are also known as Clean rooms, Cleanrooms or White rooms.

Typical Design CRITERIA

  1. Buildings should be large enough to operate, clean and maintain the equipment, they should also allow for a forklift to bring large items or supplies if needed..
  2. Storage space for materials to bring it to the proper temperature may be important.
  3. Buildings can be high cube design as needed to allow for easy movement of product on conveyors.
  4. Custom wall penetrations can be made to move product via conveyors through the building.
  5. Product openings in the wall are designed for the specific product. Large openings will require a tubular steel frame design.
  6. Buildings are to have maximum clear span roof design and have a minimum number of column supports as practical.
  7. Large door openings (typically a steel framed opening for garage doors) to allow for equipment removal or maintenance can be provided.
  8. Man doors are provided.
  9. Windows are provided to allow monitoring of the product.
  10. Walls and ceilings should be made of smooth easy to clean surfaces.
  11. Standard electrical and lighting can be provided .
  12. Removable panel sections are available.
  13. Floors should be sealed. Tiling should be considered. Vacuum systems for materials spills should also be considered.
  14. The room should have positive air pressure to prevent contamination from entering the room. Air velocity should be approximately 120 fpm through any part openings. Air vents should be distributed uniformly through the building and should not exceed 50 fpm, these vents should not be positioned over the booth or next to booth openings.
  15. Air conditioning should allow for 60° to 80° Fahrenheit, and 40 - 70 % relative humidity.
  16. Return air velocity should be less than 50 fpm and filtered to prevent particulate as small as 2 microns from entering the exchanger coil.

Feature and benefits

Specifications

Walls up to 40 feet in seamless height...Allows for the fastest and cleanest looking installations for quick start up time. 3" to 6" thick 3-ply sandwich construction. Facings of durable 26 gauge G90 hot-dip galvanized steel with smooth white finish. Pre-painted with baked acrylic enamel for a long lasting finish. Thermal insulated core of polystyrene or optional isocyanurate for energy efficiency up to R-44.

Connecting Posts - Made from rugged, pre-finished 20 gauge galvanized steel. Two-piece design connected with bolts on 24" centers gives a non-progressive design which allows the removal of individual panels when needed. Trimmed with painted 26 gauge steel feature fillers that snap into posts on each side to conceal the fasteners. These posts also function as a housing for structural inserts for roof load requirements or to conceal any type of wiring needed for the structure. Progressive anodized aluminum H-mull posts are optional.

Base Channels - Continuous painted 20 gauge galvanized steel.

Roofing Panel system - 3" or 4" thick 3-ply sandwich construction with facings of 26 gauge G90 hot-dip galvanized steel. Smooth white pre-painted with baked acrylic enamel. Thermal insulated foam with 2 lb. density.

Decking system - pre-painted ribbed steel. 30" wide interlocking panels sized to width of structure. One and one-half inch deep corrugation in 22 gauge panels 12' Greater widths are achieved with joists. rubber closure gaskets seal each end.

Ceiling - Mineral board suspended ceiling panels with industrial duty white enameled t-bar grid and hanging wires. 2'x4' acoustical panels are random fissure finished. Lay-in design allows indirect troffer lighting. Panels guaranteed for dimensional stability and are rated class "A" non-combustible. Vinyl faced tiles are available.

Doors and Frames - Heavy duty 20 gauge Steel doors are 3' x 7' x 1-3/4" thick and are finished to match panels. Jambs shall be 16 gauge steel and fully gasketed. Factory pre-hung in panel to insure proper fit. One and one-half pair of 4-1/2" hinges are installed in a mortised frame. Door thresholds and stainless steel lock set are also provided.

Glass - Glazed panels are picture window type, assembled in the frame and located 41" from floor. Tempered glass is standard and options include laminated, insulated, Plexiglas or lexan. Full height, side sliding or single hung are also available.
