Morse engineered the structure of the drum handler to sum the downward components of force and factor out the variation of forces caused by tilting the drum to pour its contents. This design, combined with the digital electronic instrument provides measurement to 0.1 Lb. (0.05 kg) while handling drums up to 800 LB (363 kg) with accuracy of +/-0.2 % of displayed weight.

The scale indicator is an Ultra Low Power Intensity (ULPI) Instrument and is Factory Mutual approved for many hazardous areas. The hand pumped or air powered drum handler with this intrinsically safe weighing system may be used in many hazard areas where ordinary electric powered equipment would be prohibited. Spark resistant parts such as monel metal drum holder bands are optional. The charger for the scale battery is not for use in the hazard area. Recharge the battery outside the hazard area.

Choose hand pump or air motor driven pumps to avoid spark hazards. AC motors and battery powered hydraulics are available for non-hazardous areas.

All Morse scale equipped drum handlers are available with a choice of:
